Healing Honu was born at the intersection of the ocean, healing, and rediscovery.

After years in the Army, I didn’t just leave a job. I left a system that taught me how to think, how to move, and how to exist within very narrow lines. Structure kept me safe, but it also kept me contained. When the uniform came off, I realized how little room there had been for creativity, intuition, or even asking myself what I wanted.

Stepping out of that world was disorienting. I wasn’t broken, but I was unlearning. Still am. Learning how to think for myself again, how to create without permission, and how to exist outside of constant readiness and control. Healing Honu grew out of that long, imperfect process of reclaiming identity after military service and trauma.

Creating became my way back.

What started as candle making back in 2020 with Wanderlust Fragrace Therapy slowly evolved into something deeper. A space where scent, sound, symbolism, and art come together to support mental health, emotional grounding, and intentional living. Each piece is designed as a small ritual. An invitation to pause, breathe, and reconnect with yourself.

The ocean is at the heart of everything I make. It is where I feel most present and most grounded. Its rhythms, creatures, and sound frequencies inspire both the aesthetics and the purpose behind this brand. Many Healing Honu products are paired with curated playlists and sound frequencies inspired by the way marine life uses vibration for communication, regulation, and connection.

Healing Honu is created in Oahu with deep respect for the land, the ocean, and the people who have cared for them long before I arrived.

I am Puerto Rican, not Hawaiian. I hold that truth with care. Coming from an island with its own history of colonization, displacement, and environmental harm has shaped how I move through the world and how I show up here. I understand what it means to love a place deeply while honoring that you are a guest.

This brand is not about claiming Hawaii. It is about responsibility while being here.

Ocean conservation is not an afterthought. It is a commitment. From refill programs and intentional sourcing to storytelling that honors marine life, Healing Honu exists to remind us that healing ourselves and protecting our planet are deeply connected. If I am going to take up space on this island, I believe I must give back through action, awareness, and stewardship.

I am a serial entrepreneur with too many ideas and not enough hours, fueled by curiosity, creativity, and a hard-earned sense of wonder. Healing Honu is not about perfection or pretending healing is linear. It’s about presence, progress, and creating something meaningful from the parts of ourselves we’re still learning how to hold.

Everything is handcrafted in Oahu with intention, humility, and gratitude.
